The Great Pause was a forum within Bastard 2023 focused on exhaustion: in artistic work, cultural institutions and the conditions under which people are expected to keep producing.
Rather than a conventional conference, it brought Rosendal Teater staff, artists and invited participants into sustained group conversations around exhaustion, care, loss and the possibility of doing institutional life differently.
The forum included artistic contributions by Barbara Raes and Eva Neklyaeva, creating spaces in which intimate experience, exhaustion, grief and institutional questions could sit alongside one another.
