Ásrún Magnúsdóttir created new folk dances. The project began within Artist on Loan, where she was made available for loan through Reykjavík City Libraries and asked borrowers to place their dances on her body with the ambition of choreographing a new folk dance for the nation.
Since then she has created folk dances for different nations, social groups and cities, researching the circumstances in which people dance, why some people do not dance, who people prefer to dance with, and the traditions and fashions of folk dancing through the ages.
New folk dances have been made with people in Reykjavík, Akureyri, Warsaw and the Faroe Islands.
