Asparfell

A real block party. Inspired by Church of Dancy, the residents of Asparfell 2-12, a large apartment block in the Breiðholt neighbourhood of Reykjavík, invited people to visit.

Householders opened their apartments and invited guests to wander from apartment to apartment and take part in different festivities. Each household curated its own party with music as a starting point: music they loved singing along to, music that made them cry, dance or feel warm and fuzzy inside.

For a day Asparfell became a living jukebox, made up of music chosen by its residents. Neighbours came together and people who might not often meet in daily life celebrated their community and each other.

In that way we all became better neighbours for each other.
